About VibeCodes and how we rank

VibeCodes is an independent directory of vibe coding: the apps that write software from plain-English instructions, and the skills, subagents and MCP servers that make them useful on real projects. We map which extensions work with which app, list free GitHub resources next to paid tools, and say plainly where each one falls short.

How the ranking works

Each listing gets an editor score from 0 to 10. For apps it weighs code quality on multi-step tasks, value for money, ease of getting a good first result, and how open the app is to skills, subagents and MCP. For skills, agents and MCP servers it weighs usefulness, the quality of the instructions or code, maintenance and adoption. GitHub stars, reader upvotes and click-throughs adjust the order over time. Sponsored placements are always labelled.

Where listings come from, and how they stay fresh

Makers submit their projects and our editors add tools we use. Every day an automatic scout searches GitHub for new Agent Skills, subagents and MCP servers by topic and keyword, and watches Hacker News and Product Hunt for new coding apps. Every hour we refresh stars, last-commit dates, licences and archived status for GitHub-backed listings; that daily snapshot powers the trending page. Nothing new appears before a person has reviewed it.

How we map compatibility

Each app lists the open standards it supports (Agent Skills, subagents, MCP, AGENTS.md, plugins, hooks), taken from its documentation. Skills in the SKILL.md format and MCP servers are shown for every app that supports that standard; anything built for one app is shown only there. See the ecosystem map.
