What is Desktop CC GUI?
What it does
Desktop CC GUI is a Tauri-based desktop application that puts a single graphical shell around multiple terminal coding-agent CLIs, so you can run Claude Code, Codex and other engines side by side without juggling separate terminal windows for each one.
What is inside
- Multi-engine support: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Kimi CLI, Grok CLI, Pi CLI, OMP CLI, DeepSeek Harness, Antigravity, OpenCode, and Qoder
- Streaming replies rendered per animation frame with cached syntax highlighting
- A full dev environment alongside the chat: file tree, built-in terminal, Git panel, and command palette
- A declarative plugin system for extending the app
- Workspace management for grouping and switching between projects
- Cross-platform builds for macOS, Windows and Linux
Works with
Bundles and switches between Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Google Antigravity and several other CLI engines as interchangeable backends inside one GUI.
How to install or connect
Pre-built installers are published on the project's GitHub Releases page for macOS, Windows and Linux. To run from source:
git clone https://github.com/zhukunpenglinyutong/desktop-cc-gui.git
cd desktop-cc-gui
pnpm install
pnpm dev
Pricing
The app itself is free and open source (MIT). The vendor site (mossx.ai) links to a /pricing page for a related hosted product, but that page is not yet published ("Coming Soon" placeholder as of this review) — there is no paid tier, subscription or account requirement documented for the desktop client itself.
Maintenance and safety
MIT licensed with 4.4k stars, 386 forks and over 6,000 commits on main, plus 299 open issues indicating an actively used but still fast-moving project. As a desktop client that launches multiple CLI engines with file, Git and terminal access, review which engines and plugins you enable, the same way you would any client that runs shell commands on your behalf.
Who should use it
Developers who regularly switch between several different coding-agent CLIs and want one desktop app — with a file tree, terminal and Git panel — instead of a separate terminal tab per tool, particularly anyone already experimenting with multiple engines like Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode side by side.

Pros
- One GUI for many CLI coding agents, with file tree, terminal and Git panel built in
- Fast-moving, genuinely active project (6,000+ commits, 4.4k stars)
- Free and open source with no account or paid tier required to run the desktop client
Cons
- Very high open-issue count (299) relative to project size suggests rough edges to expect
- Breadth across ten+ engines may mean shallower polish per engine than a single-purpose wrapper
