About Auteur
What it does
Auteur, from agiwhitelist, is an Agent Skill for building visually ambitious websites with a coding agent. It treats a site like a film production: art direction is fixed in writing before any markup, assets are generated or sourced, the page is built from tested recipes, and nothing ships until it passes automated quality gates. The goal is to avoid the generic look of AI-made landing pages.
What is inside
The package is a SKILL.md, a set of reference recipes and a few Node scripts with no dependencies. The recipes cover recon, direction, motion, scroll scenes, 3D and fluid effects, assets, taste and verification. refscout profiles reference sites for libraries, fonts, palettes and scroll budgets, and moodboard builds a numbered contact sheet from image searches. source.mjs fetches CC0 HDRIs and models and records their licences. Three gates enforce quality: slopscan fails the build on concrete issues such as purple-to-blue gradients, transition: all, missing reduced-motion handling and default fonts; motionqa runs Playwright on a throttled CPU and fails on dropped frames or console errors; and systemscan checks multi-screen products for design drift and missing focus states. A live gallery shows sites built with it.
Works with
It is a standard Agent Skill. The README targets Claude Code first, including as a plugin, and installs into other Skill-aware agents through the skills CLI.
How to install

Maintenance and safety
MIT licensed, with releases and a CI job that runs its own linter on every shipped page. It needs no API keys. Asset generation relies on local tools you install yourself, such as Blender or image-generation CLIs. The moodboard pulls images from search sites for reference only; do not ship those images.
Who should use it
Developers and designers building landing pages, portfolios or product sites who want an agent to produce distinctive, performant motion work and a checkable definition of done.
Pros
- Executable linter and Playwright motion check define done
- Recipes for WebGL, particles, 3D and scroll scenes
- No API keys or runtime dependencies
Cons
- Aimed at showpiece sites rather than everyday app UI
- Asset generation depends on local tools you set up yourself
