About Vercel Agent Skills
What it does
This is Vercel's collection of Agent Skills. It packs guidance from Vercel's engineering and design teams into skills that a coding agent loads when a task needs them. Most of the skills are rule sets the agent applies when it writes or reviews React, Next.js and UI code. Others cover writing docs, auditing a Vercel project, and deploying to Vercel.
What is inside
At the time of writing (September 2026) the collection includes these skills:
- react-best-practices: 40+ React and Next.js performance rules in 8 categories, ordered by impact. They cover request waterfalls, bundle size, server rendering and re-renders.
- web-design-guidelines: reviews UI code against 100+ rules on accessibility, focus states, forms, animation, typography, images, dark mode and i18n.
- composition-patterns: component API patterns that avoid piles of boolean props.
- react-view-transitions: page and element transitions with React's View Transition API, including Next.js integration.
- react-native-guidelines: 16 rules for React Native and Expo apps.
- writing-guidelines: checks docs and prose against Vercel's writing handbook.
- vercel-optimize: audits a deployed Vercel project for cost, performance and caching issues.
- vercel-deploy-claimable: deploys a project to Vercel and returns a preview link plus a link to claim the deployment.
Works with
The skills follow the open Agent Skills format. They install with Vercel's skills CLI, which supports Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other agents that read SKILL.md files.

Maintenance and safety
The README states an MIT licence, and the collection is updated regularly. Most skills are instructions only. The deploy skill packages your project and uploads it to a deployment service, so use it only on code you are happy to publish. The optimisation skill reads data from your Vercel project.
Who should use it
Teams building with React or Next.js who want the agent to follow concrete, checkable rules. The UI review skill also helps with accessibility checks on any web project. It works well alongside the Frontend Design skill, which handles visual direction while these skills cover correctness and performance.
Pros
- From the team behind Next.js
- Concrete, checkable rules
Cons
- Focused on React/Next.js
