About Frontend Slides
What it does
Frontend Slides is an agent skill that has a coding agent build presentations as single, self-contained HTML files instead of slide software. It can create a deck from scratch or convert an existing PowerPoint file into a web slideshow. Rather than asking you to describe a visual style in words, it generates a few title-slide previews in different directions and lets you pick one before building the full deck.
What is inside
The core is a SKILL.md workflow with supporting files: a set of named style presets across dark, light and specialty themes, a base viewport stylesheet for fixed 16:9 slides, an HTML template, animation patterns, and an optional pack of bolder design systems drawn from the author's separate template library, loaded progressively so the agent only reads the files it needs. Helper scripts extract text, images and notes from .pptx files with python-pptx, export slides to PDF through Playwright, and deploy a deck to Vercel for a shareable link. Output uses inline CSS and JavaScript with no build step and aims for accessible, commented code.
Works with
Packaged as a Claude Code plugin. The README explains that the same SKILL.md can be followed by other agents with file and shell access, such as Codex, OpenCode or Gemini CLI.
How to install
In Claude Code, run these as two separate messages:
/plugin marketplace add https://github.com/zarazhangrui/frontend-slides
/plugin install frontend-slides@frontend-slides
Maintenance and safety
MIT licensed and widely used. The repository had no commits for a few months before this review, which is acceptable for a prompt-based skill. The PDF export installs Playwright when needed, and the deploy script walks you through a Vercel login, so run those steps only if you want them. PowerPoint conversion needs Python with python-pptx.
Who should use it
Developers, founders and anyone who wants good-looking, portable slides generated by their coding agent, or who needs to move old PowerPoint decks to the web. It is a presentation tool, so it complements rather than helps with application code.
Pros
- Visual style previews instead of describing aesthetics in words
- Zero-dependency single HTML output with PDF export and PPTX conversion
Cons
- Produces presentations rather than helping with application code
- Deploy and PDF steps pull in Vercel and Playwright
