About Claude Code My Workflow

What it does

Claude Code My Workflow is a ready-to-fork repository that packages one economist's Claude Code setup for academic work: lecture slides in LaTeX Beamer and Quarto, papers, R and Stata analysis, and replication packages. You fork it, paste a starter prompt, and Claude adapts the configuration to your project. After that you work in what the author calls contractor mode: state a goal, approve a plan, and let skills run specialist reviewers and fix loops until quality gates pass. It grew out of a real PhD course and is documented in a long companion guide.

What is inside

  • Agents: focused reviewers for proofreading, slide layout, teaching quality, R code, domain correctness and a manuscript refereeing pipeline, plus a critic and fixer pair for adversarial QA
  • Skills: commands such as /compile-latex, /deploy, /data-analysis, /review-paper, /lit-review, /verify-claims, /audit-reproducibility and /commit
  • Rules and hooks: orchestration, model-routing and governance rules, a PreCompact hook that snapshots context, and an optional git pre-commit hook
  • Gates: ./scripts/backtest.sh runs a suite of repository checks, and a scorer blocks commits below a set quality threshold
  • Memory and templates: a committed MEMORY.md for shared lessons and templates for common academic artifacts

Works with

It is built for Claude Code, in the terminal or the VS Code panel. The skills follow the Agent Skills format, but the agents, hooks and rules assume Claude Code.

How to install

There is no package; you fork the repo and clone your copy:

git clone https://github.com/YOUR_USERNAME/claude-code-my-workflow.git my-project
cd my-project
./scripts/validate-setup.sh

Maintenance and safety

It is MIT-licensed and actively maintained, with a changelog and community extensions. Setup can take a while because the demos need XeLaTeX and Quarto, with R and Python recommended. The hooks and pre-commit gate run scripts from the repo on every commit, so read them after forking.

Who should use it

Academics, research assistants and PhD students in quantitative fields who write slides, papers and analysis code with Claude Code and want review and reproducibility checks built in. General software teams will find more of it irrelevant than useful, though the review-loop patterns are worth reading.

academic latex r reproducibility quality-gates claude-code

Pros

  • Specialist reviewers and adversarial critic-fixer loops
  • Reproducibility and claim-verification skills
  • Extensive companion guide

Cons

  • Built for academic research workflows, not general app development
  • Fork-based setup with LaTeX and Quarto prerequisites
