What is Superset?

What it does

Superset is an agentic IDE built around running many coding agents at once instead of one at a time. Each agent gets its own isolated git worktree and environment, so you can fire off a dozen tasks in parallel across Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, and others without them stepping on each other's changes, then review and merge the results from a single window.

What is inside

  • Parallel workspaces, each backed by its own git branch/worktree
  • A built-in terminal with tabs, splits, and persistent sessions
  • A diff viewer for reviewing and editing agent changes before merging
  • An in-app browser with automatic port detection per workspace
  • Agent status monitoring (working/idle/blocked) with notifications
  • Scheduled automations for unattended overnight runs
  • Remote access to workspaces from other machines, plus a companion iOS app
  • A standalone Superset CLI for scripting workflows

Works with

Superset runs your own subscriptions to the underlying agents rather than replacing them: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor Agent, GitHub Copilot, Devin, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Amp, Antigravity CLI, Kiro, and other CLI-based coding agents.

How to install or connect

# macOS / Linux CLI
curl -fsSL https://superset.sh/cli/install.sh | sh
# or
brew install superset-sh/tap/superset

The desktop app is distributed as a signed macOS build (Apple Silicon and Intel DMGs) and an experimental Linux AppImage from the GitHub releases page. Running agents inside it requires Git; the GitHub CLI is optional for PR workflows.

Maintenance and safety

A Y Combinator-backed project with over 14,500 GitHub stars, more than 4,000 commits, and daily shipping cadence. The desktop app is free forever; a $20/user/month Pro plan adds unlimited seats, remote access, automations, and integrations, with a custom Enterprise tier for SSO/SOC 2 needs. The code is source-available (Elastic License 2.0) rather than a permissive open-source licence.

Who should use it

Developers and small teams who already run one or more CLI coding agents and want to parallelize many agent tasks at once instead of babysitting a single session, with a real diff review step before merging.

Pros

  • Runs many coding agent CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, Copilot, Gemini CLI, and more) side by side in isolated git worktrees
  • Built-in terminal, diff viewer, in-app browser preview, and a CLI make reviewing parallel agent runs practical
  • Free desktop app with no seat limit for solo use, plus a CLI installable via curl or Homebrew

Cons

  • Source-available under the Elastic License 2.0, not an OSI-approved open-source licence, despite being listed as free/open
  • Team features (remote access, automations, mobile, unlimited users) require the paid Pro plan at $20/user/month
