About Advise Project Approach
What it does
Advise Project Approach is a single Agent Skill for project planning, course correction and pre-ship review. Instead of answering "what stack should I use?" from general impressions, it makes the agent gather your real constraints, find comparable projects, weigh trade-offs, cost and lock-in, and say under which conditions its recommendation would become wrong. It works in three modes: before you build, while a repo is in progress, and when you want a review of a finished project. The author treats the SKILL.md as the single source of truth and keeps evaluation reports, audits and a changelog alongside it.
What is inside
skills/advise-project-approach/SKILL.md, the runtime workflow- Rules that require dates or adoption evidence for any claim that a project is maintained, source-backed pricing, and a clear "advisory from description" label when no repo was inspected
- Guidance for mapping large repos first and sampling files by relevance rather than reading everything
- Worked examples covering a pre-build plan, a mid-build Express API review, a post-build FastAPI review and an operating-cost comparison
- Evaluation notes, a host portability matrix and regression tests for the skill package
- A packaged
.skillarchive plus Claude plugin and OpenAI agent metadata files
Works with
Any host that reads Agent Skills, including Claude Code, Codex and pi. The author notes that the format is portable but behaviour may still differ between hosts.
How to install
npx skills@latest add AaravKashyap12/advise-project-approach --skill advise-project-approach
You can also copy the skill folder into your host's skills directory or upload the .skill file in a skills settings screen.
Maintenance and safety
The skill is MIT-licensed and was updated recently, with versioned releases. It is plain instructions with no bundled executables in the runtime skill. The skill tells the agent to keep private project details out of public web searches. Its research relies on the agent's web access, so answers are only as current as what the agent can fetch, and the README itself reminds you to verify material advice.
Who should use it
Solo developers and small teams choosing a stack, vendor or architecture, or checking whether a half-built project is on track, who want the agent's advice tied to evidence and explicit trade-offs.
Pros
- Requires comparables, dates and sourced pricing instead of vibes
- Works in pre-build, mid-build and post-build modes
- Documented evaluations and changelog
Cons
- Quality depends on the host agent's web research
