About I Have ADHD
What it does
i-have-adhd is a single skill that changes how your coding agent writes its answers. It stops the agent from burying the useful part under context, recaps and polite filler. Once invoked with /i-have-adhd, it stays active for the rest of the session until you say "stop adhd mode" or "normal mode". The first line of each reply becomes something you can do, multi-step work turns into a short numbered list, and every reply ends with one concrete next action. The rules are loosely based on an adult ADHD self-help book and adapted for how a model should respond, but you do not need ADHD to find the format easier to act on.
What is inside
- One
SKILL.mdwith ten rules: lead with the next action, number multi-step tasks, end with a single next step, suppress tangents, restate progress each turn, give time estimates in real units, make wins visible, report errors plainly, cap lists at five items, and drop preambles, recaps and closers - Exceptions: full explanations when you ask for one, confirmation before destructive actions, and stopping to question an assumption after repeated failed fixes
- Plugin manifests for several hosts, an always-on snippet for instruction files, and translated READMEs
- The skill is set so the model does not trigger it on its own; you switch it on
Works with
Any Agent Skills host. The install guide covers Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Antigravity, OpenCode, Zed, pi, Cursor, Amp and others, with native plugin commands where the host has them.
How to install
For Claude Code:

claude plugin install i-have-adhd@i-have-adhd
For other skills hosts:
npx skills add ayghri/i-have-adhd
Maintenance and safety
The skill is MIT-licensed, very popular and actively maintained. It is plain instruction text with no scripts. Like any output-style instruction it can fade in very long sessions, and the terse format sometimes leaves out reasoning you wanted; ask for an explanation when you need one.
Who should use it
Anyone who finds long, hedged agent replies hard to act on, including developers with ADHD and people who simply want the command or file path first. If you like detailed narrative explanations, leave it off.
Pros
- Clear, testable rules with sensible exceptions
- Install instructions for many hosts
- Plain text, no scripts
Cons
- Single small skill; terse format can drop reasoning you wanted
