What is Emergent?
What it is
Emergent is an agentic app-building platform from Emergent Labs, a Y Combinator S24 company. You describe an application in conversation and its AI agents build it, covering both web and mobile experiences, with hosting on the platform. Users own the generated code, and the platform is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified. It competes with Lovable, Bolt and Replit, with a stronger emphasis on letting agents run the build.
Key features
- Build full-stack web and mobile apps through chat
- One-click LLM integration for adding AI features to your app
- Private project hosting and GitHub integration on paid plans
- Forking of tasks to explore alternative directions
- On Pro: a 1M-token context window, an "ultra thinking" mode, system prompt editing and custom AI agents
- Business and Enterprise add SSO, role-based access, shared workspaces, real-time co-editing, audit logs and VPC or self-hosted database options
Skills, subagents and MCP
Emergent lets higher-tier users create custom AI agents and edit system prompts inside the platform, but it does not document support for Agent Skills, subagents in the open-standard sense or MCP servers. GitHub integration is the way to move code into other tools.
Pricing
At the time of writing (September 2026), the Free plan includes 10 credits a month. Standard is $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually, with 100 credits. Pro is $200 a month, or $167 billed annually, with 750 credits. Business and Enterprise are custom. Extra credits can be bought on paid plans. Check the pricing page for current details.
Who it is for
Founders and teams who want agents to take a product from idea to deployed web or mobile app with as little manual work as possible, and organisations that need enterprise controls around an app builder.
Verdict
Emergent is an ambitious, agent-heavy take on vibe coding, and its web-plus-mobile scope and enterprise options set it apart from simpler builders. The free allowance is small, the jump from Standard to Pro is large, and it is younger than the biggest players, so try a realistic project on the free plan before committing.
Pros
- Agents handle backend and testing
- Web and mobile apps
- Free plan to try
Cons
- Credit-based pricing
- Less mature than the largest builders
