What is v0?
What it is
v0 is Vercel's AI app builder. It generates web apps, user interfaces, landing pages and dashboards from prompts, screenshots or Figma files, typically using Next.js, Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui components. You refine the result in chat or with a visual Design Mode, sync the code to GitHub and deploy to Vercel in one step. The agent can search the web, inspect sites and fix its own errors while working.
Key features
- Full-stack apps and UIs built with Next.js, Tailwind and shadcn/ui
- Generate from a prompt, a screenshot or an imported Figma file
- Design Mode for visual edits without prompting
- GitHub sync and pull-request integration
- One-click deploys to Vercel's infrastructure
- Database and external API connections for data-driven apps
Skills, subagents and MCP
v0's product pages reference MCP for connecting external tools, but it is not an agent you extend with Agent Skills or subagents. Because it produces standard Next.js code in a GitHub repository, many teams use v0 for the first version and then continue with a local coding agent.
Pricing
v0 uses credits. At the time of writing (September 2026), the Free plan includes $5 of monthly credits and a daily message limit. Plus is $30 per user per month with $30 of monthly credits and small daily login credits, Business is $100 per user per month with training opt-out by default, and Enterprise is custom. Credits are consumed at per-model token rates, from the cheaper v0 Mini to the more expensive Max models. Students at participating schools can apply for a year of free premium access through the v0 students page. Check the pricing page for current rates.
Who it is for
Developers and designers already on Next.js and Vercel, and anyone who needs polished React UI, marketing pages or dashboards quickly. It is less suited to teams on other frameworks or hosts.
Verdict
v0 produces some of the cleanest React and Next.js output among app builders and fits naturally into a Vercel workflow. Its strength is also its limit: it is closely tied to one stack, and token-priced credits make heavy iteration costly on the smaller plans.
Pros
- High-quality React/Next.js output
- Deploys to Vercel in a click
- Great for UI and landing pages
Cons
- Tied to the Vercel/Next.js stack
- Credit-based pricing
