About Awesome Claude Skills

What it does

Awesome Claude Skills, maintained by Travis (travisvn), is a curated awesome-list about Agent Skills for Claude. It is a reading and discovery resource, not something you install. It explains how skills load only when needed and how to enable them in Claude.ai, Claude Code and the Claude API. It then points to official and community skills worth looking at.

What is inside

The list is organised into several parts:

  • Official skills: Anthropic's document skills (docx, pdf, pptx, xlsx), design and creative skills, development skills such as frontend-design, mcp-builder and webapp-testing, communication skills, and skill-creator
  • Community skills: collections such as Superpowers, plus individual skills for iOS simulator automation, web fuzzing, Playwright automation, d3.js charts and scientific work
  • A guide to your first skill: using skill-creator or writing one by hand
  • Background: when to use skills versus MCP servers or system prompts
  • Resources: tutorials, videos and articles
  • Practical sections: security, troubleshooting and a FAQ

Works with

The list focuses on Claude: Claude.ai, Claude Code and the API. Many of the linked skills use the open SKILL.md format and also work in other agents that support Agent Skills, but check each project's own README.

How to install

There is nothing to install. Open the list on GitHub and follow the links to the individual skills.

Maintenance and safety

The list accepts contributions through pull requests. It has been updated less often recently: its "Recent updates" section stops at late 2025, and at the time of writing (September 2026) the repository's last change was in April 2026. Some entries may therefore be out of date. Old repository names, such as the K-Dense scientific skills, may have moved. The list includes its own security section, which warns that skills can run arbitrary code. Review each skill's SKILL.md and scripts before installing.

Who should use it

Newcomers who want a readable overview of the skills ecosystem and a starting set of links. For the newest skills, also check actively maintained lists and official marketplaces.
