About Product Manager Skills

What it does

Product Manager Skills is a large library of Agent Skills that teach an agent standard product management frameworks and walk you through applying them. It aims to replace generic "write me a PRD" output with deliverables grounded in named methods, and it explains the reasoning behind each framework so the human learns too. For people building software with coding agents, the most relevant parts turn a fuzzy idea into problem statements, user stories with acceptance criteria, epics and PRDs that an agent can then implement.

What is inside

  • Workflow skills: end-to-end processes such as discovery, PRD development, roadmap planning and product strategy sessions
  • Interactive skills: advisors that ask a few questions and then recommend an approach, for example choosing a prioritisation framework or splitting an epic
  • Component skills: templates for single deliverables such as user stories in Gherkin, positioning statements, press releases and experiment write-ups
  • Themes: discovery, stakeholder mapping, prioritisation, market and competitive intelligence, SaaS finance, product retirement, career transitions and AI product work such as context engineering and agent orchestration
  • Command workflows, themed ZIP packs for Claude Desktop and web, a Codex pack, and a local Streamlit playground

Works with

The skills use the Agent Skills format, and the repo provides a Claude Code plugin marketplace and a Codex package. The README also names Cursor, n8n and OpenClaw.

How to install

In Claude Code, add the marketplace and install the skills you want:

/plugin marketplace add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills
/plugin install prd-development@pm-skills

Maintenance and safety

The library is actively maintained with versioned releases. It is licensed CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, not an OSI open-source licence: you may use and adapt it at work, including at a company, but you may not sell the skills or repackage them into a paid product, and remixes must use the same licence. The skills are text and templates; the optional playground sends prompts to whichever model provider you configure.

Who should use it

Product managers, founders and developers who wear the product hat and want their agent to produce structured discovery, requirements and planning documents before code is written. It is not a coding toolkit in itself.

product-management prd user-stories roadmapping discovery

Pros

  • Many frameworks with the reasoning explained
  • Interactive advisors that ask questions before recommending
  • Packaged for Claude Code, Codex and Claude Desktop

Cons

  • CC BY-NC-SA licence forbids selling or repackaging
  • PM-focused rather than a coding toolkit
